“Magic Everywhere” – Mark Pollitt
Drifting along the canals of Venice with no cares in the world.
This image was taken in November 2019 by me, in Venice, when this amazing, historical city, had been in flood and you can see the water lines on the buildings from the receding water.
Venice is known as the City of Bridges and has around 400, each one being different and having its own secret stories to tell. Getting away from the noisy Grand Canal, I discovered this, off the circuit, truly gorgeous and delightful bridge, with its beautiful stone arch, and elegant ironwork, extending gracefully over a quiet Venetian Canal. Not only this, there is also another Venetian bridge in the background, with its mirrored reflections in the water. I could hear a Gondolier singing and then I saw a Gondola approaching from the distance, coming towards the bridges. I had to be quick with my camera as the boat was going to disturb the stillness of the water and the reflections would disappear. Click! Captured and frozen in time.
Words cannot describe the beauty of this wonderful, mirrored image, with the sunlight reflected in the canal, exuding peace and tranquility, graceful and charming, drawing you in.
This is where the magic comes from.
